The other night I couldn't sleep so I found myself reading a moving post on a beautiful blog I happened to stumble upon; and as I cried and laughed I thought I have to share this post. I realize I'm opening myself and my blog up to judgement and hurt but I don't care. That's how much this post moved me. I should also note I am not a mother but I pray that when I am I can be as open minded and loving as she is with her children. It's fair to say that this post will be read and re-read by me a million times...All I ask is that if you disagree please be kind. This is simply something I found moving and thought I'd like to share. I dig her views...
Enjoy!!
Yall, I got surprised yesterday at work with a ipad2!!! I'm so in love with it I've barely put it down. I've purchased books, (I started reading the Steve Jobs book), re-started words with friends, and am just loving having my OWN toy. (my computer broke during our NY trip and I've been without since). It sure is nice to face time on such a big screen. Via FaceTime, my parents got the grand tour last night of hour house!
It sure is nice to work for someone who I love and to feel appreciated. I am truly blessed.
Yesterday was the girls last day in La La land and we spent it right; all day at Saddle Ranch. It's a great restaurant, steaks/burgers/cotton candy to die for and the atmosphere is neat, too! There are tv's everywhere and a mechanical bull! In a weird way it feels like Texas. On Sundays they do $9.99 unlimited mimosas and bloody mary's until 3:00. Imagine the trouble we got into! We arrived a little later than we wanted to, (we were movie slow after going non stop for 3 days) but got a nice table outside and stayed for hours!
We ordered jalapeño macaroni (holy moly I think it's the best I've ever had), a Cajun burger, loaded baked potato and cotton candy for dessert. After I had a little liquid courage Leann and I decided to hop on the bull. It was hilarious. I'm not sure how cowboys actually ride a real bull I was knocked off and Leann made it the full 8 seconds!
Yesterday was also a milestone for me, I wore FLATS for the first time. Ever. I'm a heel wearing girl,bI love them, but they're just not practical with my job. I'm constantly running errands, chasing B and running around like a mad woman, so heels are a no go 90% of the time. I've been living in Uggs and boots and needed another option. Ike and I went shopping a few weeks ago and I liked a pair of Tory Burch's.. Guess what showed up in the mail?? Pics below.
Enjoy the pics! I really enjoyed my little taste of home this weekend. I already miss my Texas girlfriends, I was really spoiled having company. 14 days until my mom comes!

Last night the four of us ventured out on the town! We left it up to Ike to decide where to take us, and he led us right! We went to Trocadero on Sunset, got a table outside under the heaters, ordered a handful of tapas and really got to people watch! We had planned on going elsewhere, but we were having such a nice time at Trocadero we stayed all night! Los Angeles is very different from Austin in the fact that there are SO MANY different parts of town to go. It will take us FOREVER to scope out all the bars but I'm enjoying getting to know our city. It was such a fun night last night that we started a little slow today!
We had to show them Villa Blanca, all you Real Housewives of BH know what this is!!
Rebekah and I..
And again..
Ike and Leann
Yesterday the girls and I spent the day at the beach. We started in Venice but spent most of the day in Santa Monica. We decided to stop at Mariasol (mexican restaurant on the end of the pier, over the water) and sip on a margarita. We EACH chose a 44 ounce margarita WITH floaters. Let me just tell you how much fun we had about 1/2 way into our drinks. Leann and Rebekah swore they saw a great white shark jump out of the water and eat a pelican...When it turns out it was simply a seal. All was well until we got our $87 bill, for 3 margaritas. Whoopsie!
We had great conversation, lots of laughs and MUCH needed girl time. It was SO nice to have friends to laugh and be with. Enjoy the pics from yesterday afternoon!
Parrot photos, I'm slightly nervous here.
We were laughing so hard...
We rode the ferris wheel on the pier.
Sunset on the Pacific.
I <3 the Pier.
This pic is AFTER our 44oz margarita with floaters. Tequila makes us CRAZY!!
Our steep bill.
Pigeon with a nub.
Leann and Rebekah.
Ritas!
Love these girls!
This weekend we get to use our guest room, finally! My two girlfriends are in a plane right now to LA! I'm super pumped for a few reasons...I can explore the city and try new restaurants with Leann and Rebekah. I can have friends to hangout with this weekend, (seriously missing girlfriends). We are going to have a blast and i promise to keep you updated!! I think Ike knows whats in store for him but I know there will be lots of shenanigans! I love my husband, he knows how desperate I am to have company and they couldn't have picked a better time. Here's what I know for sure is in store:
-Santa Monica Pier
-brunch on Sunday with $10 bottomless mimosas and a bull.
-drinks on the rooftop
-Runyon canyon
-Hollywood
-beach
I promise to keep you posted!

Finley got his firs haircut in LA! He looks like a different dog, truth be told we let his get super long and didn't exactly brush it everyday...This forced a shave. He loved the new groomer and seems happy with his new do!
Happy Friday the 13th! I'm super pumped about a semi long weekend and beautiful weather! Yesterday, we got our teeth Zoom whitened and I am so happy with the results. I've been wanting to have my teeth whitened for years and now I can finally say I've done it.
Here's my cheesy before pic |
During :)
After, don't judge me, no makeup :)
After, today shopping with A!
I love my sparkly white teeth!!
2012 has started out with a bang! I'm loving my home, being in a routine and I am obsessed with my job. My husband is amazing; I'm so thankful to him, everyday for bringing our little family out here.
We spent the afternoon at the studio yesterday, it is so unbelievable to be a part of something so creative and different.
Being apart from our families and friends has extremely low moments for me, mostly when I'm alone and have downtime to think. I'm trying to keep busy and find "me" things to do and step out of my comfort zone but all in all I'm happy and at peace with our move. This is where we're meant to be!

What a marvelous Sunday. Ike, Finley and I, just the three of us, spent the day on the beach! If you know me at all you know I'm a water baby. I will always choose the beach over the snow. It's why I got hitched on the sand ;). So, imagine my excitement at living less than 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean. I promised myself when we moved here I would take FULL advantage of everything California has to offer, and I finally feel a bit more settled and ready to explore. Although, to be completely honest I really prefer to explore with Ike. This city is overwhelming to say the least. There is SO much to see and do it's overwhelming.
We walked the Pier a little and then we were ready to put our toes in the sand. Literally, as soon as Fin touched the sand he went nuts! He was running circles, digging and absolutely loved when we walked to the water. He would walk in the water, wait for a wave to come and then run as fast as he could away. He never could figure out how the water would catch up to him! After we got wet we found a spot to sit in the sand and just enjoyed the sound of the waves crashing. You really can't beat the view, either. Mountains, the Pier and the Pacific Ocean. We must have sat and taken it all in for a few hours. Sometimes it's nice to just be.

Hello everyone! I'm sorry it's been awhile since I last posted. This was a
crazy week. I hope everyone had a great New Year's celebration and is
settling back into day to day life. Did I mention my birthday was this
past Wednesday?!? It was a bitter sweet day. I really missed my family and
friends. I lived in Austin for close to 8 years, and really missed my
friends in Austin on my birthday. Right now, I am in the process of
building relationships out here. It's hard for me to be patient with the
process. The people that I have spent time with out here were out of town,
and I spent most of the day with Finley while Ike worked. The day did get
better!! Ike knew I was a little sad and lonely, so, he came by in the
middle of the day to surprise me and give me a hug. He got me a Louis
Vuitton iPhone case. He also organized a small dinner for me with a couple
of our friends. It was a lot of fun! It was my first sushi experience.
Wow. I don't eat a lot of fish, much less raw fish. I really wanted to try
it though. I told Ike not to tell me what I was eating until after I ate
it. It was really good, and I actually ate a Spicy Tuna Roll! But, towards
the end of the night Amelia asked me if I was going to eat my roe. I asked
her what she was talking about, and she told me that roe was raw fish
eggs. Yup, I was eating RAW FISH EGGS!!! Needless to say, I was done with
dinner at that point. I will try it again. I enjoyed the dinner and the
company. It was a great end to my first birthday in LA. Thank you Amelia
and Lane (and Ike) for making it special!!

My husband and his family are Baylor Bears, they bleed green and gold so imagine his excitement that Baylor was in another Bowl game AND it was in San Antonio. We got to San Antonio early enough to have a few cocktails and check into our hotel before the big game. While we were in the lobby bar my husband and his dad recognized an old Baylor football player from the early 90's, Santana Dotson. He won a Super Bowl ring with the Packers in the mid 90's. <------- You can thank Ike for that information and our pic with him is below (the guys were too embarrassed to get in the pic).
The game was fun, it was the highest scoring, in regulation, bowl game in the 99 year history of bowl games. <-------You can also thank my husband for that information. We met up with Ike's friends since they were in diapers and they ended up being roommates at Baylor, too. That's their son with Ike below.
It was a fun night seeing the Heisman winner RGIII and a great win for Baylor!
